No. That's a little bit like asking to I have to be flexible to do yoga. We will get you in shape at the same time that we teach you to take care of yourself. If you're over 40 it's a good idea to get your doctor's approval. Keep in mind we have a "honeymoon" period for the first month where you can take as many breaks as you want or need.

As safe as we can make it for our students yes. Over the years of teaching we have never had a serious accident in class. Of course we are learning to fight so there will be bumps and bruises along the way.

We offer classes for people of all ages. Classes are divided up into age groups: Kids 5 - 7, Kids 8 - 12, Adults 13 and up. Students under age of 18 must have the signature of a legal guardian.

For Krav, your joining fee includes the official Catalyst Krav Maga Academy t-shirt which you must wear to every class. Other than that you wear what's comfortable such as sweat pants, BDUs and trainers. Occasionally clothes get torn during training so cheaper is better.

That depends on the individual. Some people pick up things quickly – you've no doubt heard the term natural athlete – other people take a little longer. It doesn't really matter as long as you're improving each class and getting something from each session. Because we're not preserving an art form as often happens in traditional martial arts training we do tend to get through the program a lot faster than they do.

In Krav, we use different colored t-shirts to differentiate between levels.
